Tupac Shakur Biopic In The Works

A new movie documenting the life of Tupac Shakur is set to be made later this year.

Antoine Fuqua, the famed director of “Training Day", is confirming that his next film will be a biopic on the late rap legend.

Fuqua broke the news to Digital Spy and says that he'll be working alongside James G. Robinson, the chairman of Morgan Creek productions to make the movie in the fall.

“It looks like we're doing Tupac Shakur's movie next in September, that's what I've been starting up and working on now. I've been working on that for a while with Morgan Creek and Jim Robinson. I just got the greenlight from him and we're going in September. I've just started to prep that."

While the movie has yet to be cast Fuqua tells Digital Spy that he'd like to give the role of Tupac to an unknown actor, even possibly finding the leading role in the streets.

"That's the goal, I want to discover someone new," he explained. "I want to discover a lot of new people if I can. Obviously I'm going to have to put some people in it that you know, just because actors have different skills. I want to go to the streets and find him anywhere he might be in the world."

Who would you like to see cast to play Tupac?

Rick Ross Says He Channels The Notorious B.I.G. In Rhymes

The sh*t has officially hit the fan. See what happens.

Getting the co-sign from Diddy and Lil Cease, Rick Ross is starting to breed his own similarities when it comes to the late Black Frank White known to Hip-Hop as The Notorious B.I.G.

Many sat and wondered why Diddy was beginning to take such a liking to Ross and his intent only seemed to be more evident after they reached a deal with the Bad Boy mogul having management duties.

Speaking with VIBE, the Bawse spoke on Diddy throwing comparisons and how he compares himself to the late rapper

"When he made the comparisons of me and Biggie, I didn't take them as me being compared to Biggie. Biggie is maybe the greatest of all-time. That wouldn't even be a fair comparison. But I sometimes try to channel the emotions Biggie had in his music and his ability to tell stories. It touched me in a certain way."

He also answers if such claims place a major weight on his shoulders now.

"Not at all, because I don't take them to heart. B.I.G. is B.I.G. That's a legend. I'm doing my own thing, but I would never play myself like that. I'm the boss and I do my own thing."

Lebron James #6 in Chicago?

Say it aint so Lebron! Now that all my friends have been throwing the elimination of the Cavs to Boston in my face hard, is this possible: LB6 in Chi-Town?...funny graphic work, but what if this PICTURE creation by Geno Beatz (Producer from Chicago)comes true...Would the D-Rose, LB combination be enough for Chicago to resurrect Bulls NBA domination succeeding the Jordan Era? I feel like the NBA commissioner, Lebron should be LB6 in Cleveland. I'd get rid of Shaq; Rather have Chris Bosh, D-Wade or Amare Stoudemire with the Cavs. Stay tuned to the Blog, I will keep you updated with NBA Off-Season Trades & Big Deals.

Throwback Tuesdays: Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)

I has to take it back to the "Original" 1984 Classic Debut of Freddy & The Nightmare On Elm Street Series. Alot of people have mixed feeling about the next depiction of Freddy, but....what the hell, he's back & I am glad because Hollywood resurrected Jason & Mike Myers; it was only a matter of time. The 2010 N.O.E.S. release merged all the classic kill scences & gave you Freddy's background all in one, which I felt was necessary for the new generation of fans. Enjoy the classic & all part are on YOUTUBE thanks to Youtube User/Channel: AuronofAbyssum

I totally agree with this Youtube Member's Comment:
TheAltair4 @ilikescreamo1991 Well, i'm a huge NOES fan who grew up with this film, so my own opinion is a bit biased, i suppose. Robert Englund's portrayel of Freddy in this film is still the darkest and scariest although i thought that Jackie Haley did do a good job of reinterpreting the character. It wasn't until the third film in the series that Freddy became a figure of fun rather than one of pure, unadulterated evil as depicted in this film and the remake

Singer and Actress, Lena Horne, Singer and Actress, Lena Horne, Passes Away at 92

Legendary jazz singer Lena Horne, who starred in 'Cabin in the Sky' in 1943, died Sunday. She was 92. Horne died at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, according to hospital spokeswoman Gloria Chin. Chin would not release any other details. Her death was announced by her son-in-law, Kevin Buckley. Horne is survived by her daughter, Gail Lumet Buckley.

In the 1940s, Horne was one of the first black performers hired to sing with a major white band, the first to play the Copacabana nightclub and among a handful with a Hollywood contract. In 1943, MGM Studios loaned her to 20th Century-Fox to play the role of Selina Rogers in the all-black movie musical 'Stormy Weather.' Her rendition of the title song became a major hit and her signature piece.

"I was always battling the system to try to get to be with my people. Finally, I wouldn't work for places that kept us out ... it was a damn fight everywhere I was, every place I worked, in New York, in Hollywood, all over the world," she said in Brian Lanker's book, 'I Dream a World: Portraits of Black Women Who Changed America.'

Horne was at home vocally with a wide musical range, from blues and jazz to the sophistication of Rodgers and Hart in songs like 'The Lady Is a Tramp' and 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.'

By the mid-1950s, Horne -- who in 1947 married composer and musical director Lennie Hayton in a secret wedding in Paris, because interracial marriages were illegal in California -- left Hollywood, "bitter," she said, "at the whole Hollywood system," and went on to tremendous success as a stage actress and consummate jazz singer, PEOPLE reports.

In her first big Broadway success, as the star of 'Jamaica' in 1957, reviewer Richard Watts Jr. called her "one of the incomparable performers of our time." Songwriter Buddy de Sylva dubbed her "the best female singer of songs."

By the 1960s, Horne was one of the most visible celebrities in the civil rights movement, once throwing a lamp at a customer who made a racial slur in a Beverly Hills restaurant and in 1963 joining 250,000 others in the March on Washington when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his 'I Have a Dream' speech. Horne also spoke at a rally that same year with another civil rights leader, Medgar Evers, just days before his assassination.

In the last decades of her life, she rode a new wave of popularity as a revered icon of American popular music. Her 1981 one-woman Broadway show, 'Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music,' won a special Tony Award.

Widowed in 1971, Horne moved to New York City and continued her stage and concert work and even did the occasional movie role, including that of Diana Ross's fairy godmother in the 1978 'The Wiz.'

Horne's other roles included 'I Dood It,' a Red Skelton comedy, 'Thousands Cheer' and 'Swing Fever,' all in 1943; 'Broadway Rhythm' in 1944; and 'Ziegfeld Follies' in 1946.

Kevin Garnett: Will He Continue To Reign Supreme or Is He Done?

Kevin Garnett's basketball mortality has been getting a lot of attention lately. After all, he's getting older, and he has fewer games in front of him than behind him.

Like we ain't? Like we don't?

Garnett's career arc is of special interest to me because I've been around it, beginning to end, like few others. LeBron James has those 20,562 witnesses at The Q, but I have been lucky to be an eyewitness to so many of Garnett's exploits and accomplishments, his highs and lows. From his arrival as a 19-year-old gamble taken fifth overall in the 1995 Draft by a desperate Minnesota franchise, through all the amazing, freak-of-nature, white-hot, All-Star performances and achievements, to his status now as a proud warrior with a proud Boston team making its last stand. Or at least the Celtics' latest last stand, continuing with Games 3 and 4 this weekend at TD Garden in the Eastern Conference semifinals series against James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

If an athlete's career, start to finish, is like a lifetime, I've been around Garnett cradle to ... grave? OK, that's harsh and way premature, especially with two years and $40 million left on his contract through 2011-12. But with all the evidence and chatter about the decline in Garnett's game over the past 15 months, we would have to put him at middle age as an athete, at least.

The fact is, when Garnett turns 34 on May 19, he'll be nearly as old as I was when I started writing about him. There's some sort of symmetry in that ...

I was there in the small college gym in St. Cloud, Minn., for the teenager's first NBA practice in October 1995, a training camp session during which veterans Sam Mitchell and Doug West fouled him hard, shoving him into the wooden bleachers just beyond the baseline. Hazing of a rookie? A little. But also a "welcome to the NBA," toughening a new teammate with a taste of what Garnett could expect for the next decade and a half.

I was there afterward, too, when Garnett emerged from the small college locker room, something he'd skipped entirely as the first high school player in 20 years to head directly to the NBA. He was smiling and singing beneath a clunky pair of headphones plugged into a low-tech CD player.

I was there for his first road trip to Vancouver, when a Timberwolves coach pulled me aside with a worried look. "I just slipped the kid some money," the coach told me. "He sent his per-diem [meal money] back to his mother. I don't think he's going to make it." Later that night, most of the players went to a sports bar/gentlemen's club to watch the last Riddick Bowe-Evander Holyfield fight. Garnett wasn't among them. He wasn't old enough to get in, yeah, but it also was a pattern to be repeated for the next 15 years: The road as business trip.

I was there two months later when Garnett dominated off the bench in the middle of a game against Houston, his work at both ends -- defense, scoring, rebounding, leaping -- zapping an otherwise dull January night as if someone had clamped on a pair of jumper cables. Garnett dubbed himself "Da Kid" that night but the better nickname came later, courtesy of then-local guy Kevin Harlan, referring to the 7-footer's game, allure and paycheck all at once as "The Big Ticket."

I was there for all those first-round playoff eliminations, Garnett trudging to a podium with a heavier load on his shoulders after each one. And there, too, for Minnesota's breakthrough in 2004, highlighted by Garnett's 32 points, 21 rebounds and five blocks (on his 28th birthday) in Game 7 against Sacramento in the Western Conference semis. That was his MVP season when Garnett -- and you could make this case for five or six of his core seasons -- was the most versatile, productive, hardest-working and remarkable player in the league, offensively and defensively.

I was there to see his support of young teammates such as Bobby Jackson and Randy Foye, the split with Stephon Marbury, his sucker-punch of Wally Szczerbiak and his sobbing at Malik Sealy's casket. Sealy -- the player whose No. 21 Garnett embraced after watching Sealy star at St. John's -- was killed in May 2000 by a drunken driver on the night they celebrated Garnett's 24th birthday in Minneapolis.

I was there through all Garnett's vows of "I'm 'Sota, man," his pledges of loyalty to the franchise and playful thought that Target Center might someday be renamed "Garnett Center." I was there at the end in April 2007, when a Wolves team with a still-in-his-prime Garnett but a supporting cast of misfits won just 32 games and missed the playoffs for the third consecutive year. That was my last year on the Wolves beat, and Garnett's last year with the franchise.

I was there at The Finals one year later, when it all fell into place so fast for him. Clicking perfectly with Pierce and Allen. Cradling the Larry O'Brien. Hugging Bill Russell.

I wasn't there when he wrenched his right knee on national TV at Utah in February 2009, struggled to return and then had a large bone spur surgically removed from that knee a few months later. I wasn't there but saw the lowlights on TV this season as Garnett dragged that leg around in a difficult comeback, sometimes skipping ever so slightly to keep up. Guys from Rashard Lewis to Kris Humphries to Andray Blatche pounced, sniffing Garnett's loss of lateral quickness. The Celtics' defense, so reliant on Garnett as its middle, suffered along with him.

Now I am here to see Garnett moving better, drawing double-teams again and tapping into muscle memories from past matchups with Antawn Jamison. He used to dominate in that one, Timberwolves vs. Warriors, but this Celtics vs. Cavaliers version has gone pretty well: Garnett 36 points and 20 rebounds through two games to Jamison's 23 and 15.

"We just want to continue to get the ball to Kevin, no doubt," Boston coach Glenn (Doc) Rivers said. "Both of them are different players now in some ways. But Kevin still is absolutely fantastic on the post. We can't get it too him enough, as far as I'm concerned."

Garnett, prior to Game 2, talked to TNT's Reggie Miller about his tough comeback and renewed hope. "From the first with this injury, they told me this was going to take a year," he said. "I got cut on June 5, so if you look at it, I'm just turning the corner to meeting that head on. I'm feeling very strong. I'm not wearing my sleeves, none of the mechanial devices I have on me playing. And this is the time to peak."

The optimism in his voice was as clear as the spring in his step lately. "I think he's moving better now than he has been all year," Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told me. "He's more confident in his game than he was back in October or along the way, during the season. That's just a credit to him and his hard work in coming back from the surgery."

Said Rivers: "I think he's back now."

The mood around the Celtics now regarding Garnett is enthusiastic. While the trajectory of Garnett's career arc is down -- there's no denying that, given the minutes he has logged, the miles he has traveled, the heights from which he come -- a blip upwards is a strong possibility for 2010-11. After a summer of intense work, of course, Garnett running that beach of his in Malibu fueled by the desire to face Lewis, Humphries, Blatche and a few others again.

I plan to be there for some of those, too. As well as for the No. 5 getting hoisted into the rafters, maybe before they get around to hoisting No. 21 back in Minny. And for the big day in Springfield five years after he finally, really, is done.

Basketball mortality won't seem so bad once it's followed by immortality.

Kim Kardashian's Ex Fights Back After Abuse Leak

The ex-husband of Kim Kardashian apparently has a bone to pick following the leak of his divorce papers from the reality starlet, in which Kim alleged he violently abused her and treated her like a servant. Now, Damon Thomas -- who married Kim when she was just 19 and long before she shot to stardom -- is telling his side of the story exclusively to In Touch Weekly, and he says Kim's allegations are "absolutely not true," going on to call her a "fame-whore" who cheated on him with "multiple guys." Ouch! His words, after the jump!

Thomas, a music producer who has worked with huge acts like Lionel Ritchie and Pink, says that he never beat Kim, and that she only accused him of such actions in order to bilk him of "a lot of money." He notes that Kim never filed a restraining order against him, which he suggests someone would do if their significant other was abusive.

According to the divorce documents, which were first published in Britain's Daily Mail, Kardashian was 19 at the time she and Thomas, then 29, tied the knot in January 2000. Kardashian's states in the divorce papers that soon after their nuptials, the abuse began.

"Damon first hit me a few months after we were married," she says in the statement, going on to describe several instances of alleged abuse in detail. "One incident occurred on the day that Damon and I were going skydiving with Justin Timberlake," Kardashian says. "Before we left home, Damon hit me in the face and cut my lip open. I fell into the bed frame and banged my knee hard."

During their three-year marriage, Thomas claims that Kim was "obsessed with fame" and was a "jealous and competitive" person who "does harmful things in order to validate herself in the media." One could surmise that he's referring to her now-infamous sex tape.

"That's a fame-whore to me. It's just not cool at all," Thomas says. He also goes on to accuse her of cheating on him with "multiple guys," even going on to name Chris Judd -- who was once married to Jennifer Lopez.

Another claim made by Kardashian is that Thomas gave her thousands of dollars and told her to get liposuction. Damon, however, says it's the other way around -- that Kim was the one who wanted plastic surgery.

"She wanted to have that lifestyle ... She wanted to be what she ultimately became."

After three years of marriage, Thomas filed for divorce in 2003. In 2004, it was made official and he was ordered to pay Kim $56,000.

As a music producer, Thomas has worked with countless popular artists, including Lionel Richie and Pink. He also produced the soundtrack for the Oscar-nominated 2006 film 'Dreamgirls.'

The Plate of Black America - feat. Dr. Baruch of the Michael Baisden Show

Numbness in the arm. Shortness of breath. Sudden stabbing pain in the chest. All symptoms of a heart attack. Though commonly attributed to congestive heart failure and noted as the leading cause of death of African Americans by the Center for Disease Control; research shows that for some African Americans, the killer got in through the kitchen.

The American Medical Association reports a diet low in total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol and rich in fruits and vegetables effectively lowers blood pressure; however traditional African American diets are quite the contrary. Notoriously known for high concentrated animal fat content, white sugar and sodium; “soul food” may possibly be the perpetrator and/or at minimal the accomplice in the deaths of over 200,000 blacks in 2006 alone.

"We have to put a stop to this epidemic," says Angela Patton, "we have to educate our community on how important diet and proper nutrition is to optimum wellness." Patton is director of Camp Diva a local rites of passage project for urban teenage girls & the co-founder of the Richmond Noir Market, a weekly initiative developed to promote health and wellness in the African American community. “The Richmond Noir Market is our effort to put a dent in the health disparities in the African American community.” The Richmond Noir Market will feature weekly workshops, exhibitors & keynote speakers revolving around topics of health and wellness and also featuring healthy vegetarian cooking demonstrations.

To commemorate the launch of the Richmond Noir Market, Patton and co-founder Duron Chavis have invited Dr. Baruch Ben Yehudah; founder of Everlasting Life and frequent health expert on the Michael Baisden Show to be the keynote speaker at the inaugural event. Baruch lectures nationally and abroad on the topic of achieving optimal health as an outgrowth of healthy lifestyle changes. He also speaks on the empirical evidence correlating proper nutrition with improved academic performance, behavioral balance, relationship success, etc. The topic of discussion for Saturday, May 15th is The Plate of Black America – The Secret Relationship between Food & Disease Terrorizing African American Wellness.

The Richmond Noir Market launches Saturday, May 15, 2010. The Plate of Black America will start at 4:30pm. The event is free to the public. The market opens at 12 noon and closes at 6:30 every Saturday at 2022 Sledd Street Richmond VA 23220 off Chamberlayne Ave beside the Military Retirees Club.

Cavaliers vs. Celtics -- Who Will The Series?

This is a rematch two years in the making.

When the Boston Celtics won the NBA championship in 2008, no team gave them a tougher challenge than the Cleveland Cavaliers. Their conference semifinals series came down to the final minute of Game 7.

This one could go the distance as well.

Each team took care of their first-round business in five games, and each will be facing much tougher competition starting Saturday. The Cavs were 11 games better than the Celtics in the regular season, but this is the playoffs and the Celtics have seemingly flipped the switch.

Both teams have proven to be nearly unbeatable on their home floor in the playoffs. The Celtics have won 21 of their 25 home postseason games over the last three years, while the Cavs have won 14 of 16. And the home team has won 17 of the 19 total games these two teams have played against each other since Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen joined Paul Pierce in Boston.

Nothing will come easy in this series. LeBron James and the Cavs have been on a two-year mission to win their first title, but the Celtics showed us in the first round that they can still turn up the defensive pressure when they need to. Do they have the legs to stand toe-to-toe with the league's best? Tune in and buckle up.
Five quick questions

1. How much of a concern is James' injured right elbow? You can look at it two ways. One: It's a huge concern, because he's the best player in the series and his outside shooting is extra important against the Celtics, who will make it tough for him to get to the basket. Two: It was bothering him against the Bulls, and he still shot 57 percent, while averaging 31.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 8.2 assists. So how bad can it be?
(1) Cleveland Cavaliers (61-21) vs. (4) Boston Celtics (50-32)

2. This is going to be an ugly series, isn't it? For the most part, but not as ugly as it was two years ago, when the average score was 85-84. Both are strong defensive teams, but the Cavs have been the third best offense in the postseason thus far, and the Celtics can have a very efficient offense if they can limit turnovers. Neither team is quite as good defensively as they were two years ago either.

3. Will we see more extracurricular activity? These teams certainly dislike each other, but Garnett seems to have learned his lesson from the Miami series. There will definitely be some post-whistle pushing and shoving, but both teams are too smart and have too much on the line to risk a suspension.

4. How much of a factor will Shaquille O'Neal be in this series? He's been relatively effective -- 12.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 58 percent shooting -- against the Celtics over the last three years, but against Boston's screen-and-rolls and ball movement, he may be a defensive liability.

5. What's the stat we should be monitoring closely? Turnovers. Both teams were able to limit their miscues in the four regular season meetings, but turnovers were a real problem for the Celtics at times against Miami. The Cavs aren't a team that forces a lot of turnovers and the Celtics do a good job of getting back on defense off missed shots, but sloppy play will get them in trouble, because no one is more dangerous in the open floor than LeBron James.
When Cleveland has the ball

Led by the reigning MVP, the Cavs had the fourth most efficient offense in the league this season. It's a lot more balanced in the first half than it is in the second. They will go to Shaq in the post early on and otherwise mix it up before halftime. Antawn Jamison is a huge asset as someone who can make shots from anywhere on the floor.

In the second half, the Cavs' offense usually gets more LeBron-heavy, and that's when they could run into trouble. Against the Celtics' defense, they need to continue to move the ball from side to side and work inside-out. Boston has been the best defensive team in the postseason so far, but Cleveland has a lot more weapons than Miami did.
When Boston has the ball

The Celtics' offense is at its best when it's balanced and the ball is moving, as we saw in Game 5 against the Heat. Rajon Rondo is the quarterback and will try to get to the rim in transition or off a high screen. Allen, Pierce and Garnett are all dangerous from the perimeter, but the other Celtics bigs will hurt you by working for position near the basket on the weak side.

With all the injuries and lineup changes they've had, the Cavs' defense hasn't been very consistent. Even against the offensively deficient Bulls, they struggled to get stops at times. Their best defensive lineup will be when they go small with Anderson Varejao at center. The biggest question will be if Mo Williams can stay in front of Rondo. If not, the Cavs will be a step behind the Celtics' ball movement, just like the Heat were.
In the clutch

James will obviously have the ball in his hands on every possession down the stretch. The Celtics will do everything to keep him out of the paint and make him shoot jumpers. If they force him to give up the ball, it will be up to his supporting cast (Williams, Jamison and Parker) to knock down shots.

No matter the time or situation, the Celtics have a lot of options offensively. Who gets the ball will depend mostly on who's hot. If it's Ray Allen, he'll be coming of a down-screen or two. If it's Paul Pierce, he'll be isolated (like on the final possession of Game 3 in Miami) or run a pick-and-pop with Kevin Garnett. And Rondo is always dangerous off the dribble.
Wild cards

J.J. Hickson played just 24 minutes against the Bulls (most coming in the Game 4 blowout), but the Celtics don't handle athleticism well (see their 0-4 record against the Hawks this season). So Hickson could provide a spark off the bench for the Cavs, especially if Shaquille O'Neal is having trouble with the screen-and-roll.

Glen Davis was huge when he replaced the suspended Kevin Garnett in Game 2 against the Heat, but he wasn't able to make much of an impact coming off the bench in the other four games. Davis has scored 20-plus points only four times in 199 regular season games, but has done it six times in 36 postseason appearances. Marquis Daniels played only in the Game 2 blowout against the Heat, but could be called upon to guard James in this series.
The pick

This is looking like a much more interesting series that it would have just two weeks ago. The Celtics can keep it tight by keeping it ugly, but the Cavs simply have too much talent, starting with the best player in the world. Cleveland in 6.
